CS 371 - Blog Post #1

Hello everyone! My name is Erika Perlini, I am a third year communications student. One thing I absolutely love is listening to music. I love exploring different genres like pop, soft rock, r&b, rap, rock and roll and probably my all time favourite; country! My summer playlists consists of Morgan Wallen on repeat. I listen to music while studying, doing laundry, working out, doing any type of task really. Sharing different song vibes with friends and playing any music guessing game is always a good time and a great way to break the ice. So for this ice breaker post I wanted to share one of my favourite internet site platforms called Heardle! Based on the popular game Wordle, Heardle is a spin off of the puzzle guessing game however using music. The game tasks listeners to guess the song playing by only hearing a couple seconds of the intro. It can be more challenging at time's than you think! The thing I love the most about Heardle is that it's a new song everyday from any genre of any decade. It's a great way to become more diverse in the world of music while also having fun with people around you. This past summer, our work crew played Heardle every morning and it really helped everyone bond. Below I've shared a link to Heardle if anyone's interested in trying it out. Hint; the Heardle today is a popular Frank Ocean song, good luck!

  1. Hi Erika! Thanks for sharing this, I've never heard of Heardle before! I think it's a great example of how media that isn't based on online interaction at its core (ie. chatting, posting, etc.) can still bring people together, either by allowing them to take part in the same group activity or even just acting as a common interest.

  2. Hey Erika, loved what you had to say. I am also glad there are other Heardle fans out there as well. My mom, sister, and myself love to put our brains together as we try and guess the daily Heardle. Very interesting how Wordle brought on this wave of daily game/puzzles for people to play, exploding this style of platform to an all time high. Makes me wonder what is the next thing that the internet will throw our way. Great post Erika!
