CS 371 Blog Post #1

Hello everyone, 

    To me, the way music is dispersed throughout media platforms is something that I find extremely compelling about the online world. The amount of music that gets to find their place on different platforms is truly captivating, especially to those who are musically inclined. Social media allows for artists to relay their songs or music talent which helps them increase their audience and listeners. Tiktok, for instance, is a great platform where artists can use short clips of their music as a sound for others to post videos to. In many cases, tiktok sounds begin to trend, thus, artists music can be a part of trends even by flunk. 

    What I favour most about music in the social media world is the fact that Apple Music and Spotify profiles can be shared and followed amongst individuals. This has allowed me to create my own music playlists to share with my friends and vice versa. These things are essential to those who love music.

    Hi Alexa, I found your post very relatable! I also find new songs on Tiktok all the time, sometimes new artists trying to advertise their music and sometimes older songs that I had never listened to before. I love the way that platforms like Spotify and Apple Music have made sharing music with friends so easy and I think that they are both very underrated in terms of their social media features. I can tell from the screenshot you shared that we have similar taste in music, I love Morgan Wallen and was even lucky enough to see him in concert this summer. I'm very into country music and I even have a Spotify playlist with over 800 country songs if you're ever looking for new ones!

    Hi Alexa! Personally I love using Apple Music because of the same reasons you pointed out. Being able to make playlists and share them with my friends, or listen to their playlists is one of the highlights about Apple Music and other music platforms such as Spotify. I have also found that through social media platforms such as TikTok I have discovered many new artists and songs which I have added to my playlists. Since I am constantly finding new music, I find that I am introducing my friends to new music which is an advantage because I always get to go on aux!

    Hey Alexa,
    Great post champ. Music has always been very important to me, sharing it is the cherry on top. I find most of my new music through friends, Spotify, and social media platforms. Along with that, streaming services allow you to scroll through an artists whole portfolio. I also believe that tik tok is great for new artists because it removes music industry barriers. As a result, artists blow up very quickly.

  Hi everyone, my name is Kimberly Browne, and I'm a 3rd-year communications student! I love music and think Spotify stands out from every other music platform. I make many playlists and can find different songs with some of the features that Spotify has. Discovery weekly is a Spotify-generated playlist that releases 30 songs every week based on your music taste. Another feature called "go to radio" plays similar songs to the one you're currently playing, and when I'm making my playlists, the "enhanced" feature adds similar ones to your playlist. I find it funny that there's a constant argument between people choosing the two major streaming platforms, Apple Music, versus Spotify. However, because of these features, being able to see friends' listening activity and the app's clean layout, I switched from Apple Music to Spotify. If you like making playlists and finding new music/genres, consider making Spotify your new music platform!
