CS371- Blog Post 1 - Lauren Petrucci

Hello everyone! My name is Lauren Petrucci and I am in my third year of Communication Studies here at Laurier. One of my favourite social media apps that I love to use whether it be to edit or share my photos, is VSCO. VSCO is an app that allows creators to have a variety of tools of editing and filters, which you can choose to upload publicly to your account for others to see, or you can just save it to your camera roll. What I like about VSCO compared to other social media apps such as Instagram, is that VSCO prioritizes their account towards the quality of the photos, rather than the social clout. An example being that the follower count or likes on a post are not displayed to the general public. Majority of the people who have an account on VSCO have the opportunity to post casually and display pictures that they wouldn’t normally post on a regular social media app. Not everyone has VSCO, which is another reason why I think it allows others to express themselves and post freely. Overall, it is a great app and is one of my favourite places to post and edit pictures!

  1. Hello Lauren, I really enjoyed your post as I also view VSCO as a safe place. I love VSCO for the fact that I can post photos that I wouldn't post on Instagram, these are usually more fun, less candids, scenery pictures etc. I enjoy the fact that my followers can see my post and I can too but without the competition on who has the most likes and comments.

  2. Hi Lauren! I love using VSCO as well. It is my safe place where I can freely edit and post photos without having to worry about the pressure of likes and followers. I also enjoy the fact that the app send you minimal notifications, it allows me to spend less time on the app and my phone in general. Overall, I love VSCO and the ideals that it promotes.
