Madeleine Catalli - Ice Breaker

 Hello everyone!

My name is Madeleine Catalli and I am a third-year student in communication studies. I use various social media platforms daily but one of my favourites is Pinterest because of how aesthetically pleasing each photo and video is and because of the number of ideas/inspiration I've received from it. Pinterest is similar to Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok in the way that you can scroll endlessly for hours, however, I find it especially helpful if I'm looking for any outfit, cooking or design inspiration. Additionally, I love that you can pin posts to specific folders so that when looking days/weeks later for a recipe you wish to make or a pair of shoes you want to buy you know exactly where to find them. What's super interesting to me about Pinterest is how simple, but entertaining it is.

    Hey Madeleine! I totally agree! I only recently downloaded Pinterest as I previously thought that saving photos on Instagram would fulfill the same purpose, however I was quickly proven wrong. In my opinion, the content on Pinterest is far better curated and, as you said, more aesthetically pleasing. It's now my go to when I'm looking for outfit and meal inspiration!

    Hi madeleine,
    I love Pinterest for this exact reason. Being able to organize your boards is both aesthetic and also gives you lots of inspiration whether it's with meals or fashion. Pinterest as a social media I feel is one of the least toxic ones. Yes there are still people you may compare yourself too and you can get lost with continous scrolling. However, I find much like with making music playlists, when curating your own boards, you're just finding inspiration through photos based on your own likes.

    Hi Madeleine! I have had Pinterest for years now and love the app. I agree and also find Pinterest very aesthetically pleasing. I use it for everything whether it is for recipes, outfit ideas, or things, in general, I just like. It is very easy to navigate and find things on the app. Just as you said it's nice you can pin posts and it's easy to go back and look at.

    Hi Madeleine!
    I absolutely love Pinterest as-well, its probably one of my favourite media platforms. I use it for organization for many different categories like fashion, travel, food and beauty. I agree that it has a certain aesthetic to it that makes the platform really appealing as well at its easy user function. I think its a great space to organize thoughts and find new ideas.

    Hey Madeleine! Pinterest is one of my favourite apps too! I really like the simplicity of the app and I find it actually quite calming to scroll through at the end of my day. I also find that with Pinterest, it's an app that doesn't really focus on followers or anything like that so I admire that it's a social media app that is judgement free. I tend to use Pinterest for cooking and baking inspiration, hair and nail ideas, and outfit inspiration as well!

    Hello Madeleine! I love to go on Pinterest as well. I have recently posted my own blog post regarding how I enjoy using Instagram to look at interior design pages. With that being said, I also love using Pinterest as well to look at interior design ideas and create Pinterest boards with images I like. As you mentioned, the photos are very aesthetically pleasing which overall influences my ability to scroll on the platform for a while!

    Hi Madeleine, great post! Pinterest is also one of my favourite platforms on the internet. Pinterest is a great tool when looking for fashion inspiration, recipes, and design ideas. I believe Pinterest is so engaging due to its aesthetic and user friendly format that you mentioned in your post. The folders portion of the platform allows users to customize their profile to meet the specific aesthetic desired. The specific categories are always easy to navigate, and the ability to personalize accounts makes the platform so appealing.

    Hi Madeleine! I love the post and absolutely love Pinterest as well. Pinterest is a platform that I solely use for inspiration and ideas when planning outfits, design ideas or creativity. I find it compelling because I can always enjoy scrolling without viewing anything displeasing, and it's overall calming to search through. I find that I always find what I'm looking for and often go back to my pinned folders. Do you agree that it's a worry-free platform, and are there any other platforms that are simple to go on, like Pinterest? For me, I like to use VSCO, where I use the republishing feature similar to the pinning feature.

  Hi everyone, my name is Kimberly Browne, and I'm a 3rd-year communications student! I love music and think Spotify stands out from every other music platform. I make many playlists and can find different songs with some of the features that Spotify has. Discovery weekly is a Spotify-generated playlist that releases 30 songs every week based on your music taste. Another feature called "go to radio" plays similar songs to the one you're currently playing, and when I'm making my playlists, the "enhanced" feature adds similar ones to your playlist. I find it funny that there's a constant argument between people choosing the two major streaming platforms, Apple Music, versus Spotify. However, because of these features, being able to see friends' listening activity and the app's clean layout, I switched from Apple Music to Spotify. If you like making playlists and finding new music/genres, consider making Spotify your new music platform!
