CS371 Icebreaker Post - Alicia Max
Hi everyone, my name is Alicia Max and I'm a third-year Communications student. A social media platform that I find interesting is Spotify. Spotify is a streaming platform that allows you to stream music and podcasts. While the ability to stream anything I want instantly is excellent, the main reason I like Spotify is the extra features, some of these features include playlists with new music weekly, playlists that are curated by genre of the music that you listen to, podcast and artist recommendations, as well as one of Spotify's latest features called Blend. Blend is a playlist that curates a mix of your and your friend's music. This is done through sending a one-time invitation to your friends, once your friends have accepted, Spotify blends your music together with songs that many of you listen to, as well as songs only one of you listens to. Blend playlists also update daily allowing you to hear new songs that your friends are listening to. Blend allows you to combine your music with up to ten people easily and makes your routine music more exciting.
Hey Alicia, Great post, I did not know that blend existed and I think that is a really great feature, as I like listening to other peoples music, as I often struggle to find new music that I like. Does blend come as a feature automatically or do you need to register for it? Also what is your favourite genre of music? I love country music and am open to finding new great songs !
ReplyDeleteHey Alicia, I really liked your post. Like Kalessy, I have never heard of blend, but I am definitely going to try it with my friends. I find this very interesting and think it is super cool since I am always trying to find new music on the daily. This feature is really awesome and will allow my friends and I to vibe with the same music and artists. I love how spotify makes it so easy to find new music through the different algorithms they use. I have found so many different songs and artists through their "recommendations" feature on the application. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteDear Alicia,
ReplyDeleteI greatly enjoy the streaming platform Spotify, especially as it pertains to a podcast. When it comes to music, I prefer listening to it on Apple Music just because my friends and I all have Apple devices and we all share an account, but when it comes to podcasts, I prefer listening to Spotify. I’m someone who likes to listen to sports podcasts because there are certain things you don’t hear and interviews that are aired on television that you can hear on podcasts. People tend to air out who they are and speak more freely since there’s no specific time or when the show is supposed to end; you are allowed to swear without repercussions. Athletes have chosen the podcast route to air out their feelings, stories, and emotions about their daily lives, and I think it’s been a great addition to the game because the fans get to hear a different side of them without a media-trained answer.
