CS371 Introductions (Post 1) - Jake McMorran
Hello everyone and thank you for reading my post today!
My name is Jake McMorran and I am in my fourth year here at Wilfrid Laurier University majoring in Communication Studies. I am also pursuing a minor in User Experience Design. With the combination of these components of my degree, I am hoping to pursue a career in Urban Planning. With a greater understanding of visual communications and a lens of the sociological and psychological affects the physical space has on our minds, I hope to work to develop spaces people can not only experience in a positive manner, but have memories connected to for generations to come.
When I'm not pursuing my career, there are many side commitments I enjoy taking part in such as my fraternity Sigma Chi, my relationship, cooking and learning about food around the world, and like many other students my age I very much enjoy spending time engaging in social media through Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and Youtube.
Since I can remember from my days early days of 'You-tubing,' I have been a loyal subscriber to a channel for a show called "Good Mythical Morning." Hosted and organized by two childhood best friends Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal, the duo engages in activities such as food tasting from products around the world, seeing if food can be served as other foods, comparing the same food sold at different prices and by different brands, and so much more. While doing so, they like to add in entertainment aspects of comedy, competition, and more while advertising their personalities discussing their opinions on whichever activity they are participating in for the episode. I have found them to be entertaining, and have been following them since they began in 2012. I would say these personalities have greatly influenced my position on life today, as they have been a part of the development of my teenage years and have provided me with not only an increased interest in food, but also the want to try everything at least once. After all, I can't say I don't like something if I've never tried it!

I look forward to taking this class with you all!
Cheers!
