Ice Breaker - The World of Playlists - Pooja Sharma

 


Hi everyone, my name is Pooja! I wanted to introduce you all to my favourite time of year. Below I have shared my autumn playlist. Each year on Spotify, I curate an autumn playlist that holds all the captivating feelings of the season and a glimpse of the way I perceive the autumn months. My playlists adopt a personality and emotion that determines the music they will hold. For me, it is a compelling collection that provides positive feelings. 

Music has the ability to collect individuals who share similar experiences and ideas about their worlds. It is a medium that creates a culture of its own, a platform where individuals situate themselves to understand everyday lives. It is interesting that through shared truth about autumn or any other topic that music raises, there can be a sense of utopia. The title of leaves, coffee, leather, crisp, warm, home, followed by several emojis, are used to outline what feelings the playlist can be associated with and establish a community that could be interested in experiencing the music.

    Hi Pooja! I think it is crazy that music can impact things such as our mood, perceptions, and thoughts even when we are unaware of it. I also love to make new playlists for each season that reflect the feelings and experiences I associate with that particular time of year. I find it cool to see that the songs I come across in the majority of these seasonal playlists made by other users are very similar to the songs on my own playlists as this suggests we all share similar emotions associated with each season.

      Hi Sierra! Thanks for sharing your experience with playlists. I also find it interesting the way we associate different feelings and traditions with everyday scenarios like season changes. It is great to find others who experience mundane activities like making a playlist on social platforms to hold such meaning in our lives.

  Hi everyone, my name is Kimberly Browne, and I'm a 3rd-year communications student! I love music and think Spotify stands out from every other music platform. I make many playlists and can find different songs with some of the features that Spotify has. Discovery weekly is a Spotify-generated playlist that releases 30 songs every week based on your music taste. Another feature called "go to radio" plays similar songs to the one you're currently playing, and when I'm making my playlists, the "enhanced" feature adds similar ones to your playlist. I find it funny that there's a constant argument between people choosing the two major streaming platforms, Apple Music, versus Spotify. However, because of these features, being able to see friends' listening activity and the app's clean layout, I switched from Apple Music to Spotify. If you like making playlists and finding new music/genres, consider making Spotify your new music platform!
